The Ph.D. program trains students to become effective counseling psychologists who demonstrate the clinical awareness, knowledge, and skills necessary to deliver mental health services to multicultural client populations in various settings.

The programs faculy openly embrace and encourage student development with respect to issues such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, spirituality, age, religion, and socioeconomic status, and provide educational opportunities for students to further their professional development with respect to these issues.

The counselor training to which students are exposed adheres to a scientist-practitioner model which presumes skillful and professional practice that is by sound principles and models of psychological science.
