TRANSITION SERVICES
Lehigh University Transition and Assessment community-based life skills program is focused on furthering the efforts of school districts in meeting the individual education needs of transition students with developmental disabilities, including autism. Services / supports provided include:
- Person-centered planning
- Community-based and life skills instruction
- Work-based learning experiences
- Job-training
- Functional academics
- Community involvement and participation
- Post-secondary educational experiences
- Social inclusion and community supports
EMPLOYMENT SERVICES
In addition, Transition and Assessment Services provides community-based employment services for adults.. Services and supports provided include:
- Supported and customized employment: Job finding and job matching based on individual needs, interests, and strengths. Intensive job coaching is provided as people learn new skills and continues for as long as support is needed for job retention.
- Transitional work services: Community-based work sampling experiences to develop job skills and preferences for future employment.
COMMUNITY SUPPORTS
Community Supports provides short-term or long-term supports to help adults, including those with autism, become involved in civic, volunteer, and recreational activities in their communities. This may include supports for continuing education in post-secondary education or college settings.
All Transition and Assessment Services emphasize person-centered instruction, supports for self-determination, positive behavior supports, and inclusive practices in community settings.
