Air Products and Lehigh University Combine Efforts to Better Urban Education

Air Products

Andrew Weiss, Section Manager – Information Systems (left), presents George White, Director of Lehigh University’s Center for Developing Urban Educational Leaders (CDUEL), with a check from Air Products to support CDUEL’s efforts in urban education. Andrew says his interest in CDUEL is a “perfect fit” since he is combining all three areas that he enjoys – Air Products, Lehigh University (B.S. degree in 1981, M.S. degree 1985-chemical engineering), and urban education in Allentown (member of the Allentown School board).

CDUEL’s mission is to transform urban schools through the study and advancement of effective leadership in urban environments. CDUEL has successfully implemented this program in Philadelphia urban schools and is now focusing its efforts in Lehigh Valley urban schools, most recently with the appointment of its first urban principal-in-residence from Allentown’s Central Elementary School. You can view the CDUEL web site at http://www.lehigh.edu/education/cduel/ for more information.
