College of Education Act 48

For all types and areas of certification to maintain active status Pennsylvania ACT 48 requires all PA certified educators to participate in ongoing professional education and must complete the following over a five (5) year period:

  • Six (6) Credits of approved graduate study; OR
  • Six (6) Credits of approved continuing professional education courses; OR
  • 180 Hours of approved continuing professional education programs, activities or learning experiences; OR
  • Any combination of approved credits or activity hours equivalent to 180 hours.
