Subject: Position in Goettingen, Germany Date: Mon, 16 Jun 2003 15:58:53 +0200 (CEST) From: Thomas Schick The mathematical institute of Georg-August-Universitaet Goettingen, Germany (www.uni-math.gwdg.de) expects to be able to fill the position of a Juniorprofessur (W1) in Pure Mathematics, with a starting date of Oct 1, 2003. Applicants must have a doctoral degree and an outstanding research record. The successful candidate will participate appropriately in the teaching and research program of the institute. A contract for a junior professorship is initially limited for three years. After a successful review, a three year extension is granted. Junior professors teach and work independently and are full members of the faculty. Teaching in English is possible initially, after which teaching in German is required. It would be welcome if the research interests of the applicant link with those present at the Mathematical institutes, among which algebraic and geometric topology are well established. The University of Goettingen is aiming to increase the share of female faculty members. Thus qualified women are especially encouraged to apply.
