The position is partly as cover for Dr Marsh whilst he holds a Leverhulme Research Fellowship and partly given by the University in response to the grade 5 obtained by Pure Mathematics in the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise. Applicants should have, or be close to completing, a PhD in Pure Mathematics. Candidates, who should have teaching experience and be engaged in a strong research programme, are encouraged from all areas of Pure Mathematics, though preference may be given to applicants whose research interests complement those of existing members of the group. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the teaching of the Department within Pure Mathematics. The post is available from 1 September 2002.
