Krause" To: James Stasheff Subject: Re: best-effort You're welcome (to the hand-holding). Don't count on it in the future, though. I've decided to retire from this business a year from now, or sooner if NSF can hire someone else sooner. It's been rewarding, but it has its frustrations too. I've enjoyed dealing with mathematicians and will even miss correcting their bureaucratic goofs-- that's no problem. However, there are a few other things I'd like to do before I'm too old to enjoy them, so.... You may tell whomever you please. It's no secret, but I get tired of repeating myself, so I'm counting on telling a few people and letting the usual grapevine effect multiply the message. Best, Ralph
