Subject: For the algebraic topology discussion list Date: Mon, 26 Mar 2001 14:13:50 +0200 From: rognes@math.uio.no Dear Colleague, The Oslo Mathematics Doctoral Training Site (OMATS) is a Marie Curie training site funded by the European Union, located in the Mathematics department at the University of Oslo in Norway. Doctoral students in the areas of algebraic geometry, operator algebras or algebraic K-theory/geometric topology are invited to come to Oslo for 3 to 12 months, as a part of their doctoral studies. Visiting students will have a host advisor, and will receive a monthly scholarship of 1200 Euros plus travel money. In Oslo they can participate in the training and research environment surrounding the following 12 researchers forming the OMATS group: J. Christophersen, G. Ellingsrud, A. Laudal, R. Piene, K. Ranestad, A. Sletsjoe (in algebraic geometry), E. Alfsen, E. Bedos, O. Bratteli, E. Stormer (in operator algebras), B. Jahren and J. Rognes (in algebraic K-theory/geometric topology). Students wishing to come in the fall of 2001 are asked to apply to arnebs@math.uio.no before May 1st, 2001. Applications for later stays are also accepted. We have prepared web pages with more information about academic activities, how to apply, financial terms, etc., which can be found at http://www.math.uio.no/OMATS/index.html Can you please distribute this message to those doctoral students that you think might be interested in participating in this program, as well as to your colleagues in the mathematical fields mentioned above ? Sincerely yours, The OMATS group Oslo, March 2001
