Subject: Two topology postdoc positions in Norway From: John Rognes Date: Tue, 11 Oct 2005 13:08:01 +0200 (CEST) Please distribute to those that may be interested: (Up to) Two postdoc positions for research in algebraic topology and/or algebraic K-theory are available at the Department of Mathematics, University of Oslo, Norway. Each position has a duration of two years, starting in the fall of 2006. There is no teaching requirement. The positions are funded by the Norwegian Research Council as part of its project on "Brave New Rings" running in the period 2005-2009. The postdocs are expected to interact with ongoing work on the arithmetic properties of structured ring spectra, also known as brave new rings, as reflected in their algebraic K-theory, their topological cyclic homology or their homotopical algebraic geometry. This includes, but is not limited to, (i) the study of topological cyclic homology by homotopical and homological methods, (ii) localization and descent properties of algebraic K-theory for categories of module spectra, and (iii) an algebro-geometric perspective on the chromatic filtration and Galois extensions of ring spectra. A more detailed discussion can be found at http://www.math.uio.no/~rognes/yff/projdesc.dvi . A completed Ph.D. in Mathematics at the time of employment is a prerequisite, and a background in algebraic topology, algebraic K-theory, geometric topology or algebraic geometry is strongly preferable. Salary: pay grade 54 (approx. NOK 378.000 per year). Closing date for applications: February 1, 2006. See http://www.math.uio.no/~rognes/yff/ for links to the complete job announcements.
