Jim >From Jim McClure: A friend of mine is the head of research and development at Vredenburg, which is a division of a company called AMS (www.ams.com). He's interested in hiring topologists to work on applied problems involving optical character recognition, and he asked me to distribute the following announcement: ****** Though much of our coming work involves processing document images, and recognition of printed and handwritten content, I want to emphasize that a background in this specialty is not required. I am primarily looking for creative people with good mathematical skills who are willing to learn about a new application area and try new approaches. I would especially welcome the perspective that topologists might bring to this work. I will be glad to discuss this further with anyone interested.
