If you start with a knot diagram or a braid word, you need to take one small step and convert it to "Dowker notation". Contact Morwen Thistlethwaite . My experience is that he's very patient and helpful, and his software is relatively free of bugs. There are many others...they've all given me more trouble than Morwen's, even with the nuisance of Dowker notation.
