The start date and duration of the positions are flexible and could accommodate different schedules. And as is mentioned below, we are tentatively going ahead with our plans to hold an emphasis semester in homotopy theory in the fall of 2003. Dan Announcement: Postdoctoral Positions Department of Mathematics University of Western Ontario London, Ontario, Canada The Mathematics Department at the University of Western Ontario has two postdoctoral positions available in the areas of homotopy theory and mathematical physics. The appointments are for one or two years, beginning roughly July 1, 2002. The positions carry a reduced teaching load of two half-courses per year, in addition to research. The salary will be $38,000 CDN per year, plus a tax free research fund of $1,500. The cost of living in London is quite low. Successful candidates will have completed a Ph.D. degree in the past two years, and have active research programs in homotopy theory or mathematical physics which overlap with research programs of our faculty. For the homotopy theory position, there are tentative plans for an emphasis semester in homotopy theory during the Fall of 2003 which the candidate could participate in. For the mathematical physics position, there is an opportunity for interaction with the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo. Applicants should send a curriculum vitae and a research statement, and have at least three letters of reference sent to: J.F. Jardine Chair, Department of Mathematics University of Western Ontario London, Ontario N6A 5B7 Canada E-mail inquiries and applications are welcome, sent to math-pos@uwo.ca.
