Ignoring pointset questions, there should be a sort of unique factorization after localizing at each prime. I believe that a combination of my work (Topology 74??), Mislin, and Zabrodsky should conclude what you want in the finite case. I don't know anything in the infinite case. Best, Clarence Wilkerson
