CEC Partners
Like many who are dedicated to addressing equity and community on campus, the CEC is made up of volunteers who also have other full-time responsibilities at Lehigh. Accomplishing the many tasks we have set for ourselves would not be possible without partnering with other dedicated individuals from a variety of on- and off-campus units. We wish to thank the many people and organizations who are working with the CEC to help us to advance our mission.
In addition, the CEC has prepared a list of the many related areas on campus whose mission is also focused on improving equity and community on campus. Click here to see that listing and please let us know if we have missed any area by contacting us.
Admissions Office
Working with the CEC on improving the campus tours that prospective students receive and creating a new "diversity question" for the admissions application along with a rubric for evaluating prospective students' answers to that question.
Africana Studies, Asian Studies, Latin American Studies, Women’s Studies
Working with the CEC on developing a short- and long-term plan for the sustenance and growth of these relevant academic programs.
Board of Trustees Diversity Subcommittee
Working with the CEC to advocate for the creation of a “Chief Diversity Officer” on campus.
Dean of Students Office
Working with the CEC in a variety of capacities, including:
First-year Experience Office: Working with the CEC on finding additional ways to incorporate diversity and multiculturalism into the first-year orientation.
Community Service Office: Working with the CEC to advocate for the creation of a Service Learning Program Coordinator, to be housed in the Community Service Office. The person occupying this position would provide resources from that office for the development of new service learning curricula and (working both with faculty and with the proposed Service Learning/Social Justice Across the Curriculum Coordinator) would facilitate the incorporation of service learning experiences within existing courses.
Faculty Development Office
Working with the CEC on implementing a semester-long faculty seminar in which participants would be guided through the process of developing a new course (or redesigning an existing one) that would incorporate issues of diversity and multiculturalism and/or involve service learning.
Lehigh University Alumni Association
Working with the CEC to 1) explore ways the alumni can become more actively involved in diversity initiatives on campus; 2) develop an alumni survey with questions aimed at understanding any "polarizing issues" alumni have with LU; and 3) support the further development of BALANCE.
University Communications Office
Worked closely with the CEC on the development of the "Equity and Community at Lehigh" website.
