Unsteady Flows Generated by Bluff Bodies

Self-excited formation of wakes from cylinders, plates and wings at high angle of attack are under study, with emphasis on correlating the instantaneous structure of the wake to the instantaneous pressures and forces on the surface of the body.

Applications include unsteady wakes from tall buildings, heat exchanger tubes, stalled airfoils/wings, marine towing cables, risers of offshore platforms.
