Overview: Web Page Creation

Who can make web pages at Lehigh?
Any person or department or official group at Lehigh. That includes

* Note: Alumni are not eligible for web pages at Lehigh

Getting an Lehigh User ID (Network/AFS)

In order to have a place to put your web pages, you will need an account (userid and password) that has AFS privileges. Individual Students, Faculty and Staff are automatically issued these accounts (they are the same as email accounts).

If you have not yet 'opened' your personal account, go to the Open page: http://www.lehigh.edu/open/ and go through the open process.

Once your account is open, you should go to the Account page: http://www.lehigh.edu/account/ login with the userid and password for the account, and choose W3setup. Follow the instructions and your web space will be created, with a default home page.

Departments and groups should obtain an organization account by filling out a form from Client Services. (Room 394 in the Fairchild-Martindale Computing Center, or Form #1 on this page: http://www.lehigh.edu/~inreview/.) This form must be signed by a Lehigh faculty/staff member-- clubs should get their advisor or coach to sign it. (Organization pages should NOT generally be hosted on a personal account.)

Where will my or my group's pages actually be?

How do I get started?
This depends on who you are.

How much space will I have?

Undergraduate Students and departments/groups get 10 meg of AFS space, faculty and graduate students get 100 meg; however in addition to webspace, that amount will include any files you store on the UNIX workstations. Department/Group accounts can request more space in AFS by filling out a File Space Increase Request form, available in room 394 of Fairchild-Martindale Computing Center.
