The most direct method for creating and editing web pages is edit a file directly in your AFS space. You don't need to upload or download files, and you don't need to worry about where to put them files, because you create and edit them in the correct directory.
The files can be edited with any one of text editors available on our Network, Compute and AFS Servers, dte (the default editor), emacs, or vi.

Edit the file (using edit dte,
emacs, or vi.
This technique allows you
to remain on the Network Server, yet access your AFS space through the
/webspace/, AKA /ahome/... path.
/ahome/userid/public/www-data,
just as from the Network Server.
cd ../public/www-data/
You can then use dte, vi, or emacs to edit files, as well as using
Xwindows editors.
