Using Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 |
Text formatting includes paragraph alignment, text font, font size, type (bold, italic, etc.), and color. Almost all of these can be set by choosing the appropriate property from the Text menu as well as through the Properties panel:
![[text properties panel]](images/proppanel.jpg)
To change the alignment of an item or items
(paragraphs, images, headings, etc.)-- either right, center, left or fully justified-- , click
on the item or select the multiple items, then, click on one of the alignment
icons in the Properties window.
To change the text style as you are typing,
choose Style from the Text menu, and choose the style you want.
(As a short cut, the properties window has icons for Bold
and Italic
).
You can change the style of already existing text by selecting the text, then
going into the Text menu, choosing Style, and choosing the Style you want.
To change the color of the text,
select the text, then click on the color box
in the Properties window, and choose the color you want from the palette that
appears. (If you know the 'RGB color number', you can type it in the field next
to the box instead.)
To specify the size of the text, choose it from the drop-down menu marked 'Size' in the Properties window.
By default,
I would suggest using the smaller and larger settings, -1, -2, +1, +2, rather than 1, 2, 3. The +1, etc. settings are actually 1, 2 etc. sizes bigger than normal text; -1, etc are sizes smaller.
You can choose to specify a specific font or set of fonts
(we suggest a set of fonts, so that if the viewer does not have a specific font
on his machine, he will get an alternative), by selecting the text and choosing
the font or font set from the drop-down menu marked 'Default Font' in the Properties
Window.
(To add a new set of fonts, choose 'Edit Font list' from the Font drop down
menu, then select and add fonts to a font list. Click 'OK' when you have completed
the set, and it will be added to the drop-down menu.)
