Computing Classroom

Site Availability

The computer classroom is open for public use: (when classes are not scheduled) Monday through Thursday 8AM - 8PM, Friday 8AM - 5PM. Reservations for classes may be made through Library and Technology Services at ext. 83830. Select Site Hours for changes to this schedule or a listing of other computing locations.

Hardware

The computer lab contains (13) Dell P4 3.4MHz machines with:

80 GB hard drive
1 GB RAM
1.44 MB 3.5-inch diskette drive
CDrw/DVD
LCD montor

You must complete a LAN login to use a public computer by typing your user name and password in the appropriate fields in the opening dialog box. Remember to log out when you are done. See the document "LTS Guide to Public Computing Sites and Classrooms" for additional information on use of public sites. If you fail to logout, the next user of the system will have access to your account and files.

Network - Printing

All computers in this room are connected via an 100BaseT to the high-speed fiber backbone. The HP4250dtn printer located in this room can be accessed from any computer within the room.

Audio/Visual Equipment

The LCD projector is connected to the instructor's computer. There are speakers available for sound applications. Turn the projector on from the LCD AMX touch panel located on the wall next to the instructor's desk. Please note that the projector turns on gradually and you may not see an image for 30 seconds. A message will display as the system turns on. Please be patient. The volume up or down arrow buttons on the AMX panel controls sound levels.

PROBLEMS or ASSISTANCE

• For printing supplies contact Material Science, Dave Ackland, who can be reached at X84283.
• Contact Library and Technology Services at x8HELP (x84357) to report hardware or software problems; please report the position letter of the hardware if reporting a computer problem.
• The projector is set to turn off at midnight EST if anyone fails to turn off the system. Should the system turn off inappropriately, users may turn it back on from the AMX touch panel although there will be a delay of several minutes while the system resets.

SITE POLICIES

• The use of the printer is for small original copies only (less than 50 pages), multiple copies are prohibited.
• Food or drink is prohibited.
• Clients are expected to bring an audio headset to use audio services from the computer equipment configured with this capability.
• The computing facilities are available for use by Lehigh faculty, staff and students.
