Lehigh Lab
Media Center and Technology Resource Learning Center (TRLC)
EWFM 370

The Mini-Media Production Facility in the Media Center has been expanded in response to client demand for evening and weekend access to a facility for the preparation of presentation graphics. LTS has provided equipment and software to enable knowledgeable and independent students, faculty and staff to prepare basic graphic materials when our main production facility in Linderman Library is closed.

The TRLC consists of a classroom, a faculty technology work room, an Instructional Technology meeting room and an office for a Faculty Fellow.  The classroom has a dual screen projection system, interactive SMARTBoard capability, Internet2 resources, a digital document camera and other typical classroom features.  It seats 12 with movable tables and some tablet arm chairs.  It is intended as a training and practice resource for faculty, as a technology meeting environment, and to support ongoing classroom activities.

SITE AVAILABILITY

The production lab is available Monday through Thursday 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM, Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Saturday 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, and Sunday Noon – 10:00 PM during the fall and spring semesters.  Changes to these hours during other times are posted at the library and are announced on the LTS HOURS line, 610-758-2828.  Select SITE HOURS for a listing of other computing locations.

HARDWARE and NETWORK

All computers and printers in this room are connected via 100Baset to the fiber backbone network.

In the Media Center, eight computer stations and scanners are available. This area was designed to support basic preparation of graphics, straightforward scanning of flat art, photocopying to transparency, and color printing to paper or transparency. Student and support staff can offer limited assistance with PowerPoint, basic scanning and color printing; however, clients are expected to work primarily on their own. PhotoShop is available but our staff can offer only modest help with this software. Clients who need with complex assignments or who need in-depth assistance with these tools are urged to make use of the professional staff available during regular business hours in Media Production, Linderman Library. The color printer is of a good quality but larger format printing and photo-quality prints are available in the Production facility in Linderman.  The Media Center also has an Avio video editing system for editing VHS videotape.

The eight computers in the center are intended for graphics and presentation work only.  Please do not use these systems for word processing, e-mail or web browsing.  Also note that printing from these computers is not free (Gold cards, accounts, bursar charges, and checks are all welcome, but we cannot accept cash).  Computers for word processing, web browsing, etc. are available throughout EWFM library for this purpose.

Please check in at the circulation desk when you finish your work. Staff will want to know what type of work you did, what course it related to, and how long you were here. This information is important in helping us evaluate use of the facility. Staff will also assist you with printing, preparation of transparencies, etc.

Approximate charges for printing or transparencies are:

Please be careful. You must pay for ALL prints.
