Each fiscal year, a budget is made available for the purchase and maintenance of software that is requested by Lehigh faculty and staff, or recommended by Library and Technology Services staff for campuswide use. Requests are accepted for High Performance Computing, PC, and Mac software, both for new software packages and for software upgrades. Software requests can be submitted for computing systems not managed by Library and Technology Services, however, the computing systems must be owned by Lehigh University.
Requests are submitted to the LTS Software Specialists through a Software Request Form and are reviewed by the LTS Software Committee according to its Funding Priorities and Guidelines. At the time of a software acquisition, a support level is assigned. For software in the "no support" category an academic department support liaison needs to be identified by the requesting department. The support level list is reviewed twice a year by Client Services functional team leaders.
Faculty requesting software for use at the Library and Technology Services' public computing facilities should be aware of the Public Site Installation Guidelines
Questions regarding software acquisitions procedures can be directed to the Director, Library Collections and Systems (Christine Roysdon).
