Procedure for Requesting an Increase in Storage Quotas
All requests for increase in storage quotas for webspace(AFS), compute-server
(Altair), e-mail and special projects are now handled through a web-based
system. Please visit the
LTS
quota request page for all such requests.
Types of Storage Available at Lehigh:
- AFS/Webspace
- AFS is a storage area that includes a users Webspace as well at the
home directory when logged into an AFS workstation (such as the public
IBMs located around campus. This quota is initially set at 100
Megabytes for faculty/staff and graduate students and 20 Megabytes for
undergraduate students.
- Compute Server - The Compute
Server (Altair) is available under the Enhanced Service Level - I. The
initial quota for this storage on the compute server is 100 Megabytes.
- E-mail - E-mail storage is where your In-Box is located as well as
any folders that are created in order to store old E-mail. The initial quota
for E-mail is 2 GB for faculty/staff and graduate students and 1GB for students.
- Special Projects - Special Projects storage is available for anyone
with a Lehigh account and requires a large amount of storage to be used for
University related projects. This space is managed by LTS (Library and
Technology Services), is available on a temporary basis and is located on a
recently purchased SAN (Storage Area Network). This storage is NOT backed up on
a regular basis. Once this space requested (see information below) is
allocated, information for accessing will be forwarded by the LTS systems and
networking staff. This space may be used from the Compute Server (Altair),
the HPC Cluster or the Lehigh
Application Farm (LEAF).
- Active Directory (H:\ Drive) - 500 Megabytes (H:\ drive) disk space
is allocated for each faculty/staff and student at Lehigh with a computer
account. This space is fixed and can not be increased.
- HPC Clusters The beowulf
clusters Blaze and Inferno have a common
home directory for all users. This home directory is mounted on all nodes of
the cluster. There are no quotas for storage but the
total capacity is limited to 800GB. The home directory of the Compute Server
and the Special Projects directory is also available.
