First - gaussian or gaussview can only be run from the machine altair. In order for you to log into altair, you will need to have special permission. (https://cf.lehigh.edu/accounts/HPCAccountRequests/).
Secondly, you need to be in the gaussian group. The only way you can get permission to do this is to go through a Chemistry Professor who has to ok it and then send email to Steve Lidie (sol0@lehigh.edu with that professor on the copy to list.)
Once you satisfy these , then you may have another set of issues to contend with. If you want to remote display a gaussview interface back from the compute server altair, you will need to have an X-stack for your PC. The University has licensed X-win32 for this purpose , but the license does not extend to non-Lehigh owned PC's, and hence, off-campus PC do not qualify for our software license usage. You will need to load something else like Cygwin. More information about how to log on to the system, please refer here.
