Manual Configuration of Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
for Access to the Lehigh VPN (sslvpn)

  1. Go to "System Preferences", and click the icon for the "Network" pane.

  2. Unlock the pane to make changes, if needed.
  3. Click the "+" at the bottom of the service list box on the left.

  5. In the resulting window, select "VPN" on the "Interface" pull-down.
  6. Then select "L2TP over IPSec" as the VPN Type.
  7. Enter something like "Lehigh SSLVPN" for the "Service Name", and click "Create".
  8. In the Server Address box, type "sslvpn.lehigh.edu" (without the quotes)
  9. In the Account Name box, type your Lehigh username
    (the part before '@lehigh.edu' in your email address, e.g. 'abc123')
  10. Put a check in the box by "Show VPN status in menu bar"
  11. Click "Authentication Settings"
  12. Make sure that "Shared Secret" is selected under "Machine Authentication", and enter "engineers" in the text box, and click OK.
  13. Click on "Advanced" and make sure that the "Send all traffic over VPN" is *not* checked. And click "OK"
  14. Click "Apply", close the System Prefs window, and look for the VPN status menu in the menubar. Pull down and select "Connect".
