> Educational Technology graduates receive "Outstanding Practice" award

Three of the College of Education’s
Educational Technology doctoral students, Robert Varisco,
Yufeng Qian, and Patricia Slagter van Tryon, were among
just six who were selected to conduct poster sessions at
the 3rd Annual Conference on Training and Technology of
the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Society for Training & Development.
Patricia Slagter van Tryon’s
study titled “E-mmediacy” Strategies for Online
Learning: A Delphi Study” also received the 2004
ASTD T-Learning Graduate Student Research Award based on
creativity of the topic, applicability to the field of
learning, and the quality of the research methodology.
In addition, each of the poster session
presenters received special recognition at the event for
their research in educational technology.
The Educational Techonology program
prepares professionals who can design and produce innovative
technology-based teaching and learning products based on
a strong understanding of cognitive principles, instructional
design, and interface design. Its graduates should be leaders
in the field, helping to advance the design, implementation,
and use of newer technology-based teaching and learning
materials in diverse setting, including schools and universities,
museums and non-profit organizations, and business and
industry.
