Ana Sainz de la Pena is the ESOL and Bilingual Education Director for the School District of Philadelphia. Ana’s first experience in education was at Sacred Heart Elementary, where she taught First Grade in 1982. Since then she has worked for numerous academic institutions including the Allentown School District, DeSales University, Cedar Crest College and the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

Ms. Sainz de la Pena received her BA in Elementary Education at the National Teachers Institute in Lima Peru in 1972. She earned two MS’s degrees: one in Educational Administration and the other in Bilingual/Bicultural Studies. She has also garnered the following awards: the 2000 Leadership Award from the Hispanic Business Council of the Lehigh Valley, Citation for Leadership in Education from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania House of Representatives, The United States House of Representatives, County of Lehigh and City of Allentown. Her memberships include: Board member of the PA statewide Latino Coalition, The Red Cross of the Lehigh Valley, The Hispanic Business Council and the Hispanic Political Caucus and President of the Board of Casa Guadalupe.
