Resume & Cover Letter Critiques

Before you begin creating a resume, we suggest that you attend a resume workshop. At the workshop, you will learn the basics of resume writing that act as a foundation for your first draft. Once you have a working draft, head to Career Services for a critique. It is important to have your resume critiqued several times, keeping in mind that you will eventually get to a point in which you are comfortable with how your resume represents you.

There are several ways in which to get your resume reviewed:

  • Make an appointment with a counselor. This is especially important if you are struggling with what to include in your resume. At the beginning of the semester, appointments are booked quickly. Therefore, you may want to consider a quicker option.
  • Email your resume as an attachment to Career Services for a Peer Educator to critique.  You may pick up your reviewed resume in 2-3 business days in Career Services.
  • Utilize the drop-off service. Drop off your resume in our Career Library and you can pick up the critiqued version in 2-3 business days.
  • Meet with one of our Peer Educators who are trained to review resumes and cover letters.
  • Attend a Resume Marathon.  This one-day event is held at the beginning of each semester and offers quick resume critiques on a first come, first served basis.
