Hands on experience is paramount to your career decision making process. The best way to obtain this experience is through an internship. Internships can lead to future networking contacts and can turn into a full time position upon graduation. Typically internships occur during the summer, but you can take advantage of an internship during the semester if your schedule permits. You should begin your internship search by first getting your "tools" ready: your cover letter, resume and interviewing skills. You should also be registered on LUCIE. We advise that you start this stage of the process in the fall so you are ready to apply for positions and interview during the spring semester, as most internships have application deadlines in the spring. There are several ways to seek internships within your field of choice. We suggest you utilize a variety a resources and techniques to find the one right for you. In addition to using LUCIE, investigate internship/networking opportunities via the internet, our Career Library, the LUCAN alumni database, the Career Fair, and personal connections. To assist you with your internship search, please call Career Services at (610)-758-3710 to schedule an appointment with a career counselor. |
