Career Assessments

Choosing a major or job function can be a difficult decision. Interest inventories and assessment tools can help you to select a major and/or generate options for professions that will best meet your interests, values, and skills. Career assessments are best used as a starting point in making career choices.  They are meant to be used in conjunction with a skilled career counselor.  Make an appointment with a counselor to learn more about utilizing these tools as part of your career exploration process.

Some assessment tools that we offer are:

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)

  • The MBTI is an assessment that evaluates your personality preferences and strengths. This is a computer-based assessment.

Strong Interest Inventory (SII)

  • The SII assesses your likes and dislikes in work and leisure areas.  This is a computer-based assessment.

Self-Directed Search (SDS)

  • The SDS is also an interest based inventory designed to provide you with immediate feedback on how your interests correlate with career options.

SIGI 3

  • This internet-based tool provides a comprehensive review of skill sets, interest areas and work-based values.  Extensive information on hundreds of careers is also a component of this tool.
  • In order to use SIGI 3, you must get an access code from a counselor.
