WHY INTERESTED IN THE PROJECT:
Children who are healthy are more ready to learn, and schools have
been identified as practical and logical environments for health promotion
to occur. My interest in being a part of the Pediatric Leadership Training
Grant arose from my belief that linking healthcare professionals, families,
and schools would result in positive results for students. As part of the
grant, I have had the opportunity to work across clinical and school settings
to gain knowledge and skills in creating health promotion programs in schools
and linking systems to aid students with health and mental health issues.
As a pediatric school psychologist, I plan to develop school-based initiatives
that will be effective in guiding children and adolescents toward a healthy
future filled with personal and academic success.
