WHY INTERESTED IN THE PROJECT:
Training in pediatric school psychology is very important and highly needed in the field. I feel that this specialization will prepare me to work with students and families from a variety of backgrounds. There are a number of health issues that can impact a student's behavior and academic functioning, while there are also a number of behavior problems that put students at-risk for adverse health outcomes. In addition, many students with E/BD take medication as part of their treatment regimen. Therefore, school psychologists may be required to consult with the medical community or develop intervention and prevention programs for students with or at-risk for chronic health conditions. I feel that the Pediatric Leadership Training Project will provide me with the skills and experiences necessary to be a more effective school psychologist.
