Day Six - 15 miles

Knighton to Brompton Crossroads

MThe guides warn that this is the toughest day's walk. They're right. It isn't the longest, and the elevation is never particularly great, but there are many short, steep climbs and descents. The day begins with a climb to the top of Panpunton Hill and a terrific view back down into the valley. The final descent onto the Montgomery Plain, which promises a couple of days of relatively flat going, is a positive relief. I stayed here in a beautiful 17th century farmhouse called Little Brompton Farm and got the sandwich of a lifetime at a small pub called the Blue Bell. Click here to see panoramic view of this area.
