Day
Nine - 11 miles, 900 feet ascent
Reeth to Richmond
The path
out of Reeth traverses pleasant farmland with little ascent.
It passes Marrick Priory, which housed Benedictine nuns in the
12th century and now serves as a nature/adventure center. It
winds through the cosy village of Marske with its fine old Norman
church, St. Edmund's.
Richmond Castle soon appears along the
River Swale below and the path leads into a bustling little city.
It was a great place for another rest day. Time to visit the
castle and pass the afternoon on Market Square. Plenty of good
pubs and shops to stock up on provisions.
