Day Ten - 23 miles, 500 feet ascent

Richmond to Ingleby Cross

This is a day I'd just as soon forget. It was long. It was flat. It was boring. The greatest danger posed by the entire Coast to Coast Path is crossing the A19 highway at Ingleby Cross. And by then, your feet are too sore to run.
Problem is, much of the 23-mile day is spent on roads. It's tough work for the feet. Friends told me to take lighter shoes. I didn't listen. I got blisters. There's a bus. I didn't take it.
The highlight of the day is stopping for lunch at the White Swan, a pub in Danby Wiske where walkers sign a book and have a pint of bitters and a good chicken sandwich.
