At the foundation of Greek Life Leadership Development at Lehigh is the cornerstone
philosophy that leadership is a process. There are six pillars situated around the cornerstone
that begin to shape a strong Greek leader. These leadership pillars are:
- Every person has leadership potential that can be cultivated and grown
- Everyone has the opportunity to participate in leadership
- Leadership is ethical and inclusive
- Strong positive role modeling is inherent in leadership
- There is a shared vision that inspires all
- Collaboration builds flourishing communities
The Greek Life Leadership Development Program uses its vision and mission to guide all the work
that is does for and with the Greek community at Lehigh.
It is the VISION of Greek Life Leadership Development that:
Positive leadership will be embraced and utilized for the betterment of the Greek community,
each chapter and every individual. Transformational leadership will become the hallmark of every
student's Greek experience at Lehigh University.
It is the MISSION of Greek Life Leadership Development that:
The Greek Life Leadership Development Program works to complement and support the larger mission
of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs at Lehigh University. We utilize the transformational leadership
theory to develop and enhance student's leadership skills and understanding. We empower students
to raise one another to higher levels of motivation and moral reasoning. Through innovative and
intentional educational programs and opportunities, we strive to develop a community of chapters
and individuals who value positive leadership and utilize it to contribute to the greater success
of Greek Life, Lehigh University, and the larger Bethlehem community.
