Awards and scholarships

Besides scholarships available through University Financial Aid, the Department offers its own awards and scholarships to outstanding students.

The J.I. Rodale Scholarship honors the founder of the Rodale legacy and is awarded to an outstanding student in the Department of Journalism and Communication.

The Ann Siegel Scholarship honors the wife of Lehigh alumnus Herb Siegel and is awarded to an outstanding student or students in the Department of Journalism and Communication.

The Les Whitten Scholarship honors the famed journalist, writer and Lehigh alumnus and is awarded to an outstanding student in the Department of Journalism and Communication.

The Rodale Scholars honor the legacy of the Rodale family and company. The Scholars are selected from incoming Lehigh freshmen intending to major in the Department of Journalism and Communication.

The Jesse Siegel Writing Award honors the grandfather of Lehigh alumnus Jonathan Green and is awarded to the student who produces the best written honors thesis in the Department of Journalism and Communication. The student should be a senior and current staff member of The Brown and White.

The Elizabeth Cagan Advanced Reporting Award honors the grandmother of Lehigh alumnus Scott Cagan and is awarded to the student who writes the top story in the Advanced Research and Reporting class in the Department of Journalism and Communication.

The Linda Strassberg Award in Journalism and Communication Studies honors the mother of Lehigh alumnus Todd Strassberg and is awarded to the student who writes the top honors thesis in the Department of Journalism and Communication.
