Formatting shapes can be done using the Properties window at the bottom of the screen as shown below.

To add a textured fill, select a Texture type from the drop down box labeled Texture. Parchment will be a good choice.

To darken the edges of the shape you will apply a stroke to it. Click on the drop down box next to the pencil symbol (third section from left) to select the size of the Stroke. Choose a size of 8. Next to the size choose the type of Stroke you will use. Select Felt Tip - Dark Marker.

You now have a shape that can be converted directly to an image or copied into other images.
