Go to View and choose Rulers.
Check it if it is unchecked. Then go to View - Guides
- Show Guides. If unchecked, check this one as well. This
adds rulers to the sides of the image and also allows you to place
guides on the image. Guides are lines that help you align items
on a page, but will not show up in the final image.
The following instructions on this page are summarized here
in a video file. You may find it helpful to clarify instructions.
Now you will align the end of the E. Click on the vertical ruler
and drag to where your E should end to place a guide on your image.
You will see a green line representing your guide.
Do not worry if the guides cover part of your image, they are not
part of the actual image and can be hidden by choosing View
- Guides - Hide Guides.
Select the White Arrow tool, and pick one of the top right anchor
points. While holding shift, drag the point over to your guide.
Do this to all your right end points so that they are all aligned.

Now you will adjust the width of each part of the E. Adjust the
top part of the E to a width you choose. Measure the width with
guides and rulers. Adjust the other widths of the E parts to fit
accordingly. For the bottom portion of the E, move all anchor points
up the same distance and to retain the rounded curve at the bottom.

Now move the middle anchor points of the E inward about halfway.

Your shape is done, but there are several different options you
can select to format the shape. You will now make darker edges and
apply a textured fill to the shape.
