Need to Update Your Position Description?

A new web-based Goals→Performance→Success (GPS) tool becomes available on October 1, 2008, coinciding with the start of the 2008 performance appraisal period. With the introduction of the on-line tool, key accountabilities will be auto-populated into the appraisal form from staff members’ position descriptions (PD).

It is recommended that staff members take some time now to review and confirm that their PDs are current. To update your PD, contact Human Resources (by phone at 83900 or by email to inhro@lehigh.edu) to request your PD be unlocked for editing. Human Resources can also provide the position number and password to access the PD if needed.

Staff members are reminded that any significant changes to a PDsuch as adding or deleting a key accountabilityneed to be reviewed and approved by your supervisor. If the priority order of the key accountabilities needs to be adjusted, you will find it much easier to rearrange key accountabilities in the on-line GPS tool.

All edits to PDs need to be completed and finalized (i.e., “closed”) by Friday, September 19. Key accountabilities of open PDs can not be downloaded to the on-line GPS tool.

Capital Blue Cross Customer Service on Campus

A Capital Blue Cross representative visits campus each month:

  • On the third Tuesday

  • In the conference room in Human Resources (428 Brodhead Avenue).

You can schedule an appointment for a private and confidential meeting to review any medical plan questions or issues you may have by calling extension 83900. Your covered dependent -- spouse or partner or child -- can come with you. New SSA Resource for Retirement Planning

The U.S. Social Security Administration (SSA) recently unveiled a new online retirement calculator designed to help people plan for retirement. Unlike other retirement estimators that require the user to insert yearly earnings information into a calculator, the SSA’s Retirement Estimator automatically pulls information from a person’s actual Social Security earnings record. The personalized Retirement Estimator allows the user to compare different retirement options based on differing retirement dates or earnings scenarios.
