If the truth be told, this course is just an excuse for all of us to be library rats free to wander and roam in wonderful but hitherto not-easily-accessible library collections.

But, putting on our scholarly demeanor, in this course we strive to:

• to learn more about five significant pieces of American history

• to gain experience with the new phenomenon of online archives 

• to perform authentic scholarly work with primary materials

• to realize the constructedness of history
